Death of Julian Cleveland Patrick



Julian Cleveland 'Pat' Patrick, Captain, U.S. Navy (retired), 76, of Gulf Breeze, FL, died on April 25, 2007 from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Pat died peacefully, accompanied by his family.
Pat was born on July 13, 1930 in Savannah, GA to Ethel and Julian Patrick. He grew up in Savannah, GA and graduated from Savannah High School in 1948. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1954, and earned Masters Degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1962 and the Naval War College in 1966. Pat served proudly and with honor in the U.S. Navy for 32 years (from 1949-1981). During his distinguished Naval career, he commanded the USS KOINER and USS KRAUS, and was Professor of Naval Science at the University of Pennsylvania. His personal military decorations were many and include the Legion of Merit with Combat "V."
Pat was a faithful and devoted member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, where he led the Savelle Men's Bible Class. He also enjoyed golf and spending time with his eight grandchildren. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Beverly (Bowles) Patrick; his daughters, Pamela H. Elser, Lisa Beaujon, Deborah P. Stalker; his son, Michael C. Patrick; eight adoring grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Ann Barnes and brother Gordon Patrick. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Ethel Patrick; his sister, Ada Sharpe; and his brother, Jack Patrick.
Memorial services will be held at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL on May 1, 2007 at 3:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Savelle Men's Bible Class or the American Cancer Society in the name of Julian Cleveland Patrick.
