Two Navy Football Players Selected For Major Leadership Positions


ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Senior linebacker Joe Worth and senior safety Shakir Robinson have been chosen for major leadership positions within the Brigade of Midshipmen.

Worth, who hails from Valrico, Fla., has been chosen as the Brigade Commander for the spring semester. He is the first Navy football player to be selected Brigade Commander since Zerbin Singleton in the spring of 2008.In his role as Brigade Commander, Worth will be responsible for guiding and directing the daily activities of the Brigade of Midshipmen and act as the liaison between the Brigade and the senior leadership at the Academy.

Robinson, who is from Brunswick, Ga., was selected to be one of two Regimental Commanders for the spring semester and will be in charge of the First Regiment.  He will assist Worth in guiding and directing the daily activities of the Brigade of Midshipmen.

“I’m thrilled that Joe and Shakir were selected for the two most important leadership positions within the Brigade of Midshipmen,” said Navy head football coach Ken Niumatalolo.  “They are both great representatives of the Naval Academy and Navy Football on and off the field and will due a terrific job leading the Brigade during the spring semester.”
