Capt. Leon G. Wood Jr., retired USN, died peacefully at home in Odenton, Md., with his wife by his side on March 22, 2017. He was 86. A 1954 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, his dates of service are 1948 to 1985. He spent 10 years on sea duty, 2 1/2 years in the destroyer USS Taylor, and 7 1/2 years in four diesel electric submarines. Of that, six years were Pacific and four years Atlantic. His remains will be interred Monday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at the USNA columbarium in Annapolis, Md. He is survived by his wife, Hakima Sebane Wood, and seven children, Jeffrey, Scott, Dale, Leeanne, William, Christopher and Zachary Wood.
